   4-day UNESCAP Foundation Course in Freight Forwarding

Johor Freight Forwarders Association (JOFFA) will be organising the UNESCAP Foundation Course in Freight Forwarding beginning October 2009.

2.        This Course will take 4 days to complete. JOFFA is planning to organise the course on TWO (2) SATURDAYS and TWO (2) SUNDAYS to enable more members to send their staff to attend this programme.

3.        Attendance is compulsory. There will be an ASSESSMENT TEST on the final day. Federation of Malaysian Freight Forwarder’s (FMFF) certificate will be issued to who is completed the course and passed the Assessment Test.

4.        Course contents are as follow:

        1.       Realisation of 1 Malaysia concept.

2.       Procedure to ensure your Air cargo is ready for carriage.

3.       Understand the scope of Freight Forwarding Services.

4.       Evolving Role of Freight Forwarders.

5.       Overview of Malaysian Ports and its function.

6.       Introduction to Free Zone

7.       Understand the importance of Sea Transport Chain.

8.       Carriers Liability relating to Goods.

9.       Liability & Insurance.

10.     Linkages between trade and transport. (There is no trade without transport).

11.     How to plan and execute an EXPORT sea shipment by sea.

12.     How to plan and execute an IMPORT sea shipment.

13.     Incoterms.

14.     Understand the role of Other Government Agencies (OGA) and their linkages through the National Single Window electronic transmission system.

15.     Assessment Test.

5.        After completion of this Foundation Module, participants may continue to ENROL for the UNESCAP MULTI TRANSPORT OPERATORS (M.T.O) Diploma Course which consists of 5 Certificate Modules, namely:

          1.       Certificate in Freight Forwarding and MTO.

          2.       Certificate in Warehousing Operations and Cargo Consolidation in

                    MTO.

          3.       Certificate in Maritime Operations and Cargo Planning in MTO.

          4.       Certificate in Inland Transport.

          5.       Certificate in Port Management, Port Operations and Import and

                    Export Operations.

6.        For your information, any Consultant Company organising this course will normally charge the minimum of RM 1,000.00. For benefits of all our members, JOFFA Committee has unanimously approved the followings:

6.1:    Members will pay for the Registration/Administration fee of RM 100.00 per participant.

6.2:    Members must register with payment for three (3) participants. They will allocate in separate classes within 3 months so as not to interrupt your Company daily operation.

6.3:    Course fee, Two tea-breaks and lunch, seminar bag with pen and notes will be provided FREE OF CHARGE.

7.        As there are limited seats, registration will be on first come first basis.
